Let’s realize generally, that the masses of humankind have not kept close to God. Man does not see with the perspective of Almighty God-where “righteousness” reigns above all else. It’s the few who will come through. As the prophet Isaiah said,

“except the Lord of Hosts had left not us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah”

—ISAIAH 1:9 (emphasis added)

Yes, it has been the few that make the difference. Look what happened to mankind in the years before the Great Flood ... when all were unrighteous excepting Noah and a few of his family. Then, how about the formidable task Moses completed. Fantastic! How could any one, except “ one chosen ” take a mass of people—young and old, with animals, having food and housing needs, etc., and etc. Then lead them through a major desert for forty years. Moses (with God’s supreme help), and “ the few ” that faithfully followed, did a transcendent job. True, we don’t have the whole story. But, God knew Israel would bless humankind with their endowed gifts and contributions-in science, medicine, engineering, art, intellectuality, and gospel truth.

Following, the Ephraimite Joshua, divided initial conquered lands between the tribes of Judah and Joseph—then assigned lands yet to be conquered—and tribal inheritances to remaining tribes, as recorded in the book of Joshua. “When Joshua died, the national spirit of Israel died also-and the great federation of military and political solidarity melted away. Every man departed to his own inheritance, and each tribe began to look to its own resources ...”

Preparing to go into “The Promised Land,” Moses was told by God that he could not enter (for future reasons). Then, Moses warned Israel:

... if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and do all His commandments ... the Lord thy God shall set thee on high above all nations of the earth (Deuteronomy 28:1) ... The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto Himself, as He hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in His ways.

—DEUTERONOMY 28:9 (emphasis added)

But, if Israel did not do this:

When thou shalt ... corrupt yourselves ... the Lord shall SCATTER YOU among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations whither the Lord shall lead you.

—DEUTERONOMY 28:25,27 (emphasis added)
